Only 15% Indian women get the tag of being “overweight”

Do you believe that majority of Indian women are fat? Then, this news will prove to be a surprise! Contrary to the common belief, an interesting study done by the researchers of Harvard School of Public Health (HSPH) discovered that only 15% of the Indian women are overweight. The research conducted to find out the percentage of overweight women in 54 low and middle income countries revealed that India is among the bottom five worst affected countries in terms of the Body Mass Index (BMI). According to results of the study, the average Body Mass Index (BMI) of an Indian woman is 21, and only 15% of the women under the age bracket of 15 and 49 years are overweight.
