FDA Suspends Licenses of 24 pharmacies in Goa

 The licenses of 24 pharmacies in Goa have been suspended and show-cause notices issued to 269 pharmacies between the period April to November 30, 2010 by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), India. The FDA had conducted a random check of 460 pharmacies in Goa according to the FDA director Salim Veljee. The inspections aimed to check for sale of prescription drugs without the supervision of a qualified pharmacist, sale of expired drugs, sale without prescriptions, non-availability of proper records, etc. 

The licences of the violating pharmacies were suspended for a period of 1 to 5 days. The FDA has not cancelled any license this year.
